Ho Ho Bars

Description
Chewy, fudge-topped bars inspired by the classic Ho Ho snack—soft chocolate cake, layered with a light, creamy vanilla filling, then finished with a chocolate coating. Quick to make from a boxed cake mix and pantry staples. Store in an airtight container to keep the cake moist and the filling fluffy.
Ingredients
- 1 box Devil's Food cake mix
- 3/4 c Sugar
- 1 stick Butter, softened
- 2/3 c Shortening
- 2/3 c Evaporated milk
- 2 tsp Vanilla
- 1 can Dark chocolate frosting
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Prepare cake mix: Pour batter into a greased jelly roll pan.
- Bake: 12–15 min at 350°. Cool completely.
- Make Filling: Combine sugar, butter (or margarine), shortening, milk, vanilla, and salt.
- Beat: Mix until light and fluffy. Spread onto the cooled cake.
- Frost: Melt the jar/can of frosting for 20 seconds. Spread over the white cream layer.
