Description

This is a recipe for a Black Tie coffee drink. It is a combination of coffee, chicory syrup, sweetened condensed milk, and half and half. The drink is served over ice and is perfect for a hot day. Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons ground coffee
  • 1 ½ tablespoons chicory syrup
  • 6 ounces cold, filtered water
  • 1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk
  • Ice
  • 1 tablespoon half and half

Instructions

  1. Brew the coffee with the water using your favorite method.
  2. Add the coffee, and chicory syrup to a measuring cup or glass. Stir to combine and set aside.
  3. Measure sweetened condensed milk into a serving glass. Fill glass with ice.
  4. Pour coffee mixture over ice.
  5. Top with a float of half and half.

Chicory syrup can be purchased from many online retailers, or you can make your own using the following recipe:

Chicory Syrup Recipe

Ingredients

  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons roasted chicory

Directions

  1. Add all ingredients to a small pan
  2. Over medium heat, bring ingredients to a low simmer.
  3. Turn off heat, cover pan, and let sit for 30 minutes.
  4. Strain out solids and place syrup in a bottle.
